Important Announcement from IEEE Hong Kong Section


Recently, IEEE became aware of instructional material posted online detailing the steps to take to join IEEE in Hong Kong and become an elector for the IT Functional Constituency.  The material uses several registered IEEE trademarks in a manner that may imply to viewers of the information that IEEE supports its distribution. As you know, IEEE is a neutral, apolitical organization. IEEE has not, and will not, endorse any particular candidate for office or otherwise participate in a local election process.  


As you know, IEEE is a neutral, apolitical organization.  IEEE has taken steps to have this material modified to make it clear that IEEE has neither endorsed its distribution nor has any affiliation with the person who created this material.  Should this modification not be made, IEEE reserves the right to have the material removed to avoid any further confusion as to its source.


It is the honor of IEEE Hong Kong Section to continue supporting members in certifying thier membership status in the openly, fairly, honestly and in strict confidential Election in Hong Kong.

IEEE HK Section membership increase to record high


In last 6 months, Hong Kong Section recorded a huge increase in membership from 2,700 in early December last year to 8,830 on June 1.


We noted such increase is due to the heated discussions in the Internet Chat Groups stating that high grade members with selected IEEE societies subscription is eligible to register as an ITFC Voter. 


Among 60,000 IT professionals in Hong Kong, Most newly joined should have aware, and, thus joined IEEE to have their status recognized to get a voting right in the coming ITFC legislative election. IEEE HK Section is happy IT professional joined IEEE to have their status recognized and registered as ITFC voters.


IEEE is the world largest learned society with 400,000 members more than 170 countries. Our core purpose is to foster technological innovation and excellence for the benefit of humanity.  Members enjoy keeping abreast the forefront Electrical, Electronic and Computing technology and technical development from IEEE.


All membership applications are directly handled on-line in IEEE Web Portal in USA.  HK Section do not involved any process in such.  The high grade member qualification requirements are the same since 1997 when Hong Kong CAS/COM and Computer Chapter high grade members are recognized and eligible to vote in the ITFC.


IEEE Hong Kong provides a volunteer platform to her members and welcome newly joined members.  Enjoy and stay tune in the IEEE volunteer family!!

Dear IEEE member, non-IEEE member, or visitor,

Welcome to the IEEE Hong Kong Section.

IEEE is the world’s largest professional association dedicated to advancing technological innovation and excellence for the benefit of humanity. IEEE and its members inspire a global community through its highly cited publications, conferences, technology standards, and professional and educational activities. IEEE Hong Kong Section is one of the 334 IEEE Sections in ten geographic Regions worldwide.

It’s my great honor to the elected as Chair of the IEEE Hong Kong Section for the 2016 Session. Under the leadership of the Immediate Past Chair (Dr. Chris Chan) and efforts from our Executive Committee members, the Hong Kong Section has achieved an outstanding performance in both its recruitment and retention goals for the 2015 membership year.

In 2016, the Hong Kong Section and Chapters will arrange and organize various activities to promote and enhance research in areas of electrical and electronic engineering.  

We look forward to seeing you at an IEEE event.
